  I have been to JJ's before and thought it was pretty good for the price (not great, but good atmosphere and service and food is somewhat unique and tasty). Tonight I went and ordered one of the soups, the chicken rice, as an appetizer. It literally tasted like they opened a can of progresso chicken rice soup and heated it up to bring it out to the table. I would have had better soup at an Applebee's or other similarly bland and run of the mill chain restaurants. The chicken was, like any canned soup, dried and tasteless. The carrot slices, bland and overcooked. The broth was flavorless. I know, I know, it's soup. But I am really feeling let down that JJ's, a French restaurant that is supposed to be small and locally owned and pretty known for homemade quality, would serve what tasted to be canned soup. Regardless of if it was poured out of a 99 cent can with a "Healthy Choice" label on it, it was so bland and unpalatable, dried chunks of processed chicken and all, that I am questioning if I want to go back and give them another chance or not.

  The service was excellent, the atmosphere was alright. My husband and I were ushered in and immediately offered a teeny table just large enough for one person and had to ask for something large enough for two people. When we spend $100 on dinner it's just nice to have enough room for your dinner plate. The escargot appetizer was excellent however the duck was very dry and the seafood overcooked. All of the desserts look amazing. The server was very accomodating, if we come back it will be just for desserts and the great service.
