  This "landmark" Jacksonville restaurant is a mere shadow of its former status. I frankly can't understand how it stays in business. I can't add much to the many negative reviews, except that I see no reason to doubt them.
  
  The last time we went there we were put off by the grimy walls and substandard food, not to mention the loud, obviously intoxicated party nearby. Anyplace touting itself as a "family" restaurant would not have seated them to begin with.
  
  You'd do a lot better at Golden Corral, or even fast food, than this dive. Or spend a little more and go to Metro Diner, among others, for real, authentic fried chicken, because you won't find it at Beach Road…

  We have been long time customers of this business. We went there a couple of weeks ago for lunch and were waited on by Jordan. We drink unsweetened tea & we requested splenda he would only give us two packets, then proceeded to tell us they were completely out. This was exactly what happened the previous time we ate there. We had to ask three times to get serving spoons as our food got cold. The fries were totally grease soaked & the gizzards were way overcooked so that they were dark & tough. We have been patronizing Beach Road Chicken for over 48 years as a couple. My husband had been going for an additional 18 years with his parents. We will never attempt a meal there again & that's a "shame on them"! We were certainly loyal customers, but they have shown they no longer care about keeping our business.

  Beach Chicken Dinners is well worth the drive to Atlantic! By far the best fried chicken I've had. They've been open since 1939, and when you taste the chicken you'll know why they are still around! For $20 I got more food than I would've at a chain restaurant.
